Greg Evans
Greg Evans is an American cartoonist and the creator of the syndicated comic strip Luann. He received theNational Cartoonist Society Reuben Award for 2003 for the strip. He has also been nominated four other times for the same award. He has also written a musical based on Luann, titled Luann: Scenes In A Teen's Life which debuted at Palomar College in San Marcos, CA in March 2008. The cast included Rachel Robinson as Luann, Sean Hannify as Brad, Alyssa Schindler as Bernice, Lauren DeBraun as Delta, Jordan Gray as TJ, Caitlin Kunkle as Tiffany, and many other actors and actresses from the area. The show was directed by Dana Case.
Prior to Luann, Evans published the comic strip Fogarty, which was distributed free to many high school newspapers. It featured the character "Mr. Fogarty", who continues in the same role as a character in Luann.
Local film and media professor
Merryl Goldberg, Ed.D.
Dr. Golberg is a Professor of Visual and Performing Arts at California State University San Marcos and Executive Director of Center ARTES. She teaches classes related to music and learning through the arts. Her publications include the books, Integrating the Arts: An Approach to Teaching and Learning in Multicultural and Multilingual Settings, 3d Edition (2006, Allyn and Bacon); Teaching English Language Learners through the Arts: A SUAVE Experience (2004, Allyn and Bacon); and Arts as Education (1992, Harvard Educational Review). She is the recipient of Spencer, John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur, California Arts Council, and Fulbright-Hays Foundations grants relating to her work with arts in the schools. Merryl is also a professional saxophonist and recording artist. She toured internationally for 13 years and has recorded over a dozen CDs with major labels. She received her undergraduate degree from New England Conservatory of Music and her Doctorate in Teaching, Curriculum and Learning Environments, from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Currently, Dr. Goldberg is co-principal investigator on a million dollar Department of Education Model Arts Grant, DREAM (Developing Reading Education through Arts Methods).

Dan Bennett
Dan Bennett is the film reporter for the North County Times. His film writing has appeared in Entertainment Weekly, Movieline, the Los Angeles Times and MTV.com. He is the founder and director of the San Diego International Children's Film Festival.
Local filmmakers
Jacob Angelo & Nick Zynda
 Longtime collaborators, this duo has created several award winning short films. Well versed in the technical aspects of videography, they also manage the Civic Center Plaza Screen and maintain various jobs related to the art and technology of amateur filmmaking. Nick graduated UCLA with a Media Arts Degree and Jacob studied Visual Performing Arts & film at CSU San Marcos.
